  • RICH SURFACE OUTCROPS WORKED IN EARLY 1850'S AND SOON AFTER A SHAFT WAS SUNK. WORKED WITH CHURCH MINE PRIOR TO 1868 AND COMBINED PRODUCTION EXCEEDED $600,000. UNION WORKED 1871-1886; 1896-1909; 1914-15. REOPENED IN 1934 AND WORKED 1936-37; OPERATIONS SPORADIC AND INCONSEQUENTIAL 1937-1940. IDLE SINCE. THIS MINE CONSIDERED TO HAVE BEEN LARGEST SOURCE OF LODE GOLD IN THIS COUNTY. HOWEVER, AS FEW PRODUCTION FIGURES HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE, TOTAL OUTPUT IS UNKNOWN BUT ESTIMATED VALUE RANGES FROM $2,700,000 TO $5,000,000. AREA COMPRISES 41.32 ACRES.
