Comments on the location information

  • ELEVATION FOR LOC. A GIVEN ABOVE; ELEVATION FOR LOC. B IS 1480 FT. NICHOLS (1968, P. 5) HAS THESE LOCATED ON A MAP, BUT HIS CORNERS MAY BE OFF, AND THE ABOVE LOCATIONS ARE WITH RESPECT TO CREEK BENDS AND MOUNTAIN TOPOGRAPHY. ATCHISON (1936, SAMPLE 291-1) LOCATED A SITE ABOUT 300 FT OR MORE N. OF THE NICHOLS SITE, BUT AGAIN, THE CORNERS OF THE SECTION WERE OFF, AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE SAME SITE AS NICHOLS' SITE (LOC. A). THIS IS GIVEN AS AN AREA OF 440 BY 440 YARDS BY 24 FT, OR 1,548,800 CUBIC YARDS OF MALACHITE AND AZURITE IN WEATHERED GRANITE. THESE ARE PROBABLY THE SAME AS LOCS. 51 AND 52 OF HALE (1981B, P. 310, 317, MAP), BUT NOT IN DEVILS CANYON.

  • Hydrothermal Veins

Comments on the geologic information

  • PROBABLY HYDROTHERMAL VEINS IN LUGERT GRANITE WERE WEATHERED, AND THE COPPER WAS INCORPORATED INTO PERMIAN ARKOSE (HENNESSEY). POLK (1948) AND MERRITT (1958) ARE SOURCES FOR GEOLOGY.
