Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: TWO ORE BODIES OF MASSIVE SILICEOUS ORE LIE PARALLEL TO THE BEDDING OF THE ENCLOSING GREEN CHERT AND SHALE. THE STRIKE IS N 65 W AND ARE NEAR VERTICAL ON A HIGH ANGLE TO THE NORTH. PSILOMELANE IS THE PRINCIPLE METALLIFEROUS CONSTITUENT OF THE ORE BUT NEAR THE SURFACE A SMALL QUANTITY OF MANGANESE DIOXIDE IS PRESENT.

Comments on the production information

  • NO PRODUCTION. THE NORTHERN ORE BODY IS 5-7 FT. THICK AND THE SOUTHERN ORE BODY , SEPARATED FROM THE FIRST BY 6 FT. OF BARREN CHERT, IS AT LEAST 3 FT. THICK. ORE MINERALS ARE OXIDES OF MANGANESE, CARRYING A VARIABLE QUANTITY OF WHITE GRANULAR SILICA IN IRREGULAR PATCHES. PSILOMELANE IS PRINCIPAL METALLIFEROUS CONSTITUENT OF THE ORE BUT NEAR THE SURFACE A SMALL QUANTITY OF MANGANESE DIOXIDE IS PRESENT. MOST OF THE ORE IS TOO HIGH IN SILICA TO BE MARKETED WITHOUT RESORT TO SOME PROCESS OF CONCENTRATION
