  • UPPER OPENINGS AS DESCRIBED IN LOCATION COMMENTS. ONE SMALL PIT SHOWS A WELL-DEFINED STREAK OF GALENA ACROSS IT; MOST OF LEAD ORE COMES FROM AN OPEN CUT IN EARTH AND GRAVEL. A SHAFT SUNK NEAR THE SMALL PIT IN 1891 FOUND LEAD ABOVE ZINC IN THE SOLID ROCK. ANOTHER OPEN CUT 30'X4'X5' DEEP IS WELL DOWN IN THE ORDOVICIAN ROCKS, AND SPHALERITE AND GALENA FILL CREVICES IN BRECCIATED DOLOMITE.
