Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Coarse placer gold, in 2 to 4 feet of pay gravel, was first found near the mouth of Ophir Creek in 1910 (Ellsworth and Parker, 1911, p. 165; Ellsworth, 1912). However, most of the mining and all of the dredging took place upstream in the Circle quadrangle (ARDF no. CI041).
