Deposit THE ORE OCCURS IN 7 VEINS THAT STRIKE N 30 TO 60 E AND DIP STEEPLY TO THE NORTHWEST OR SOUTHEAST IN AN AUGITE-BIOTITE MONZONITE. ONLY THE GOSSANS ARE EXPOSED. THE GOSSAN IS HIGHLY ALTERED ROCK AND VEINLETS OF QUARTZ AND CHACEDONY ARE STAINED HEAVILY WITH LIMONITE AND MANGANESE OXIDES. THE AREAIS COVERED BY 5 PATENTED CLAIMS (PATENT NO. 818586; MIN. SUR. NO. 1659) DATING FROM 1921. THE CLAIMS ARE THE SHANNON, SANTA ROSA, BROWN GOLD-COPPER, MANHATTAN GOLD-COPPER AND THE EVELYN GOLD-COPPER.
Deposit THE EVELYN MINE IS THE ONLY MINE IN THE CERRILLOS DISTRICT TO HAVE SHIPPED COPPER-GOLD ORE RATHER THAN ZINC-LEAD-SILVER ORE.
