  • ORE MINED FROM HUNDREDS OF OPEN PITS, OPEN CUTS, TRENCHES, AND SHALLOW UNDERGROUND WORKINGS IN A 2.5 SQUARE KM. AREA. SOME OF THE WORKINGS HAVE SHAFTS UP TO 150 FEET DEEP WITH SOME STOPING IN THE TUNNELS.

  • EXPLORED IN LATE 1800'S FOR SILVER, WITH SOME PRODUCTION AS EARLY AS 1883. PRINCIPAL PRODUCTION BEGAN IN 1916 AND HAS CONTINUED WITH SOME INTERRUPTIONS TO PRESENT (1980). SINCE 1937 ALL MINING HAS BEEN FROM OPEN PITS.

Deposit SUPERGENE ENRICHED REPLACEMENT BODIES ALONG FRACTURES, IN BRECCIATED ROCKS AND IN PERMEABLE BEDS IN SILURIAN FUSSELMAN DOLOMITE CUT BY NE-TRENDING FAULTS ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF THE SILVER CITY STOCK. ORE BODIES OCCUR ONLY ABOVE THE WATER TABLE WHICH IS GENERALLY LESS THAN 60 M. DEEP.
