Deposit THIS IS THE FIRST DOCUMENTED CALDERA-RELATED EPITHERMAL GOLD MINERALIZATION KNOWN IN EUROPE. MINERALIZATION OCCURS IN RHYOLITIC TUFFS AND DOMES OF THE RODALQUILAR CALDERA COMPLEX IN THE MIOCENE CABO DE GATA VOLCANIC FIELD OF SOUTHEASTERN SPAIN. GOLD IS CONCENTRATED IN THE HIGHEST PARTS OF THE CENTRAL CORE, ASSOCIATED WITH HYPOGENE ALUNITE. THE CORE IS SURROUNDED BY BASE METAL-SILVER VEINS LOCATED IN N-S TRENDING FRACTURES.
