  • THE COLAVI DISTRICT IS FORMED OF CRETACEOUS CALCAREOUS SANDSTONES, SILTSTONES AND MARLS WHICH REST ON SILURIAN DIAMICTITES AND ORDOVICIAN SHALES AND SANDSTONES. THESE HAVE BEEN INTRUDED BY TERTIARY, DACITIC STOCKS, DIKES AND SILLS, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MINERALIZATION.

Deposit THE MOST IMPORTANT TIN MINERALIZATION IS FOUND IN THE CANUTILLOS AND COLAVI SECTORS IN MANTOS FORMED BY THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CARBONATE CEMENT OF THE SANDSTONE BY FINE-GRAINED CASSITERITE AND PYRITE. BEST KNOWN SILVER MINERALIZATION OCCURS AWAY FROM THE TIN MANTOS.
