General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit ON EAST SIDE OF IRON HILL COMPLEX, PYRIXENITE IS CUT BY SWARM OF CARBONATITE DIKES TRENDING GENERALLY WNW-ESE IN RADIAL ORIENTATION TO MAIN CARBONATITE STOCK. VERMICULITE IS SPORADIC BUT LOCALLY ABUNDANT IN ALTERED PYROXENITE AS PODLIKE SEGREGATIONS AND DIKELIKE BODIES, RESULTING FROM WEATHERING OF BIOTITE OR PHLOGOPITE. BUSH (1951) DESCRIBES DEPOSIT AS BLANKET-TYPE ALTERATION ZONE OF UNCERTAIN EXTENT. LARGE PERCENTAGE OF VERMICULITE BOOKS ARE MORE THAN 0.5 INCH IN LONGEST DIMENSION WITH SOME UP TO 3 INCHES.
