  • MAIN TUNNEL IS LOCATED 400 FT NE OF THE SHAFT. MAIN TUNNEL EXTENDS FOR 2000 FT TO THE SOUTHWEST. MAIN SHAFT IS AT LEAST 450 FT DEEP WITH A MAIN LEVEL AT 250 FT AND 2500 TO 3000 FT OF WORKINGS AN INCLINED RAISE CONNECTS THE TUNNEL AND MAIN LEVEL, WITHIN ORE, AND HAS THREE SHORT INTERMIATE LEVELS WITHIN ORE

  • PROSPECTING STARTED IN THE 1880'S AFTER ORE WAS HIT ON CRESCENT RIDGE. COMSTOCK MINING CO. WAS ORGANIZED IN 1882 IN LONDON. PROPERTY WAS ESPECIALLY ACTIVE IN 1890, 1893, 1894, AND 1895 WHEN A GOOD ORE BODY WAS STRUCK. THE MAIN SHAFT WAS SUNK IN 1901 AND THE PROPERTY ACTIVE UNTILABOUT 1908 WHEN IT WAS CONSOLIDATED WITH THE SILVER KING CONSOLIDATED MINES CO. PROPERTY WAS LATER CONSOLIDATED WITH UNITED PARK CITY MINES CO. IN 1953

Deposit ORE OCCURS IN FRACTURES LOCATED IN BOTH THE HANGING WALL AND FOOTWALL, OF A DIORITE PORPHYRY DIKE LYING WITHIN THE EAST-NORTHEAST STRIKING MASSACHUSETTS-COMSTOCK FAULT. ORE OCCURS IN TWO WELL DEFINED SHOOTS ALONG THESE STRUCTURES, MOSTLY IN THE HANGING WALL BRECCIA ZONE. ONE OF THE SHOOTS BIFRUCATES
