  • ; GRAPHITE, FELDSPAR, MICA, CHLORITE, GARNET QUARTZ SILLIMANITE; VOLCANO SEDIMENTARY SEQUENCE, ORIGINALLY CONSISTING OF ARKOSES, GREYWACKES, MARLY SHALES, LIMESTONES WITH INTERCALATIONS OF ACIDIC AND BASIC LAVA FLOWS, SILLSAND TUFFACEOUS LAYERS IN THE AREA IS KNOWN AS KURASE GROUP. GRAPHITE MINERALIZATIONS ARE ENCOUNTERED IN THE SO CALLED LUALENYI-MEMBER AND MUGENO FORMATION OF THIS GROUP. THE GRAPHITE GNEISS AT CHAWIA IS EXPOSED ALONG A DIP-SLOPE. LARGE QUANTITIES OF GRAPHITE GNEISS HAVE THERE FORE BEEN SUBJECTED TO SUPERGENE ALTERATION, WHICH IS CRUCIAL FOR RENDERING GRAPHITE GNEISS AMENABLE TO AN ECONOMIC CONCENTRATION PROCESS
