Comments on the geologic information

  • A BED OF DIATOMITE 15' THICK CROPS OUT AT INTERVALS FOR SERERAL MILES. IT IS OVERLAIN & UNDERLAIN BY LIMY ROCK INTERLAYERED W/THIN BEDS OF CLAY. THE STRATA ARE CUT BY MANY FAULTS. THE BED TAPERS TO A HARD SEAM AT ITS SOUTHERN EDGE. THE CENTER 10' WAS THE ONLY PART MINED, AND THE BEST GRADE OCCURRS BELOW A THIN STRATUM OF LIMY ROCCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SECTION. THE DIATOMS ARE WELL PRESERVED, UNIFORM SIZE, OF CYLINORICAL MELOSIRA GRANULATA THE DIATOMITE CONTAINS 15-20% MOISTURE
