  • IN 1911, OPERATOR W. F. SCOTT. QUARRY OPENED 1898, 150 FEET LONG NORTH TO SOUTH PARALLEL TO ROAD, 50 FEET WIDE, 5 FEET DEEP, WITH WORKING FACE 20 FEET HIGH TO WEST. SHEETS 1 TO 4 FEET THICK AND HORIZONTAL. GNEISS FOLIATION STRIKES N. 10 DEG. WEST AND N. 20 DEG. EAST, AND DIPS EASTWARD. SOME DIKES OR LENSES OF PEGMATITE AND APLITE AS MUCH AS 2 FEET THICK, PARALLEL TO FOLIATION. GNEISS COLOR MEDIUM PINKISH PURPLE GRAY OF VERY FINE SLIGHTLY GNEISSOSE, IN PLACES BANDED, TEXTURE. USED FOR CURBS, STEPS, TRIM. QUARRY WORKED OCCASIONALLY.
