| Deposit | IN MAY 1982 DE BEERS ANNOUNCED THE CLOSURE OF LETSENG-LA-TERAI. THE MINE HAS BEEN OPERATING AT A LOSS FOR SOME TIME AND IN SPITE OF ATTEMPTS TO KEEP THE MINE IN OPERATION BY DEVELOPING THE SATELLITE PIT (WHICH HAS A LIFE OF ABOUT 4 YEARS) IT HAS BECOME UNECONOMIC UNDER PRESENT CONDITIONS AND THE MINE WILL BE CLOSED DOWN OVER THE COMING MONTHS. |
