  • CONSISTED OF A NUMBER OF OPENINGS AT NORTHBASE OF MTN. THE 1882 NORTHSIDE SHAFT REMOVED 400 TONS OF ORE IN COURSE OF ITS SINKING AND REACHED A DEPTH OF 80 FEET. 1985-THE NORTH SHAFT IS APPROX 115' LONG AND 10 TO 30 FEET WIDE. ORE BODY IS VISIBLE AT SURFACE AND RUNS APPROX 5 FEET WIDE 18 FEET DEEP SURROUNDED BY GNEISS. ACCROSS THE ROAD 2 PIT 15 FEET IN DIAMETER APPROX 50 FEET DEEP, WATER FILLED, ARE VISIBLE. MUCH COAL AND SLAG ARE NEAR PITS ALONG WITH AN OLD STONE FOUNDATION AND PILES OF ORE IN GNEISS
