Comments on the geologic information

  • THE BALTIC AMYGDALOID LODE IS A RELATIVELY THICK (150 - 200 FEET THICK), DENSE, DARK BASALT WITH A WELL-DEVELOPED FLOWTOP BRECCIA. ALTHOUGH WELL OXIDIZED, THE LODE IS NOT AS THOROUGHLY OXIDIZED AS THE KEARSARGE LODE. AN ABUNDANCE OF IRON-RICH CARBONATES IN THE MINERALIZED PORTIONS OF THE LODE GIVE THE OXIDIZED ROCKS A BROWNISH CAST. COPPER SULFIDE AND ARSENIDES ARE FOUND IN FISSURES CUTTING THE LODE. THE BALTIC LODE WAS THE SECOND MOST PRODUCTIVE LODE (AFTER THE KEARSARGE).
