  • DETAILS OF THE GENERAL GEOLOGY OF THE AREA HAVE BEEN LARGELY OBSCURED BY SUCCESSIVE IGNEOUS INTRUSIONS AND ALTERATION OF THEIR HOST ROCKS. FOLDED LIMESTONE OF PROBABLE CRETACEOUS AGE WERE COVERED BY RHYODACITE FLOWS AND TUFFS. SUBSEQUENTLY THESE ROCKS WERE INTRUDED BY A SERIES OF GRANODIORITE AND QUARTZ MONZONITE STOCKS. ADDITIVE CONTACT METAMORPHISM OF THE INTRUDED ROCKS AND ORE DEPOSITION ARE RELATED TO THESE INTRUSIONS. THE PREDOMINANT ROCK IS A THICK-BEDDED FINE-GRAINED BLACK LIMESTONE. NONFOSSILFEROUS.
