UPPER PART OF VALLEY FOLLOWS NE-SW STRIKE OF LOWER CRETACEOUS QUARTZITE. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS LOWER CRETACEOUS QUARTZITE, SHEARED GRIT, ARGILLITE, PHYLLITE, AND SLATE CUT BY SMALL QUARTZ VEINS.

THICK, BENEATH AS MUCH AS 8 FT. OF MUCK. LOW GRADE PLACERS ON BENCH 75 FT. ABOVE AND EAST OF CREEK. CONSIDERABLE MINING ON SLOPING BENCH 2 MI. UPSTREAM FROM BOSTON CR.; GRAVEL 8-20 FT. DEEP.
Deposit STREAM GRADIENT BETWEEN POINTS 1.5 MILES BELOW AND 3 MILES ABOVE BOSTON CREEK IS ABOUT 100 FT. PER MILE. ABOVE BOSTON CR. WATER SUPPLY IS SMALL AND DURING AN AVERAGE SUMMER IS HARDLY ADEQUATE FOR SLUICING. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
