  • THE OSCURA MOUNTAINS CONSIST OF PRECAMBRIAN GRANITE THAT INTRUDED QUARTZITE OVERLAIN BY PENNSYLVANIAN LIMESTONES, SANDSTONES AND SHALES. PERMIAN RED BEDS OF THE ABO FM. OVERLIE THE PENN. STRATA. A FEW SILLS AND DIKES OF MID-TERTIARY MONZONITE AND DIORITE INTRUDED THE PALEOZOIC ROCKS. MAJOR FAULTS ALONG THE WEST-FACING ESCARPMENT FORMED EASTWARD-DIPPING BLOCKS WHICH ARE DOWNDROPPED TO THE WEST AND NEAR THE NORTHERN END OF THE RANGE THE BLOCKS MERGE INTO THE NORTHWARD-PLUNGING OSCURA ANTICLINE.

Deposit DEPOSITS OCCUR AS OPEN-SPACE FILLINGS WITH MINOR, LOCAL REPLACEMENT OF FAVORABLE STRATA. DEPOSITS OCCUR ALONG A NORTH-SOUTH TRENDING FAULT ZONE CONTAINING NUMEROUS PARALLEL AND SUBPARALLEL FAULTS MARKED BY NARROW MINERALIZED ZONES UP TO 3 FT. WIDE.
