Comments on the location information

  • Political location in record is Fergus county. However, original lat/long plot in Jefferson county, about 200km WSW of Fergus county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 46-25-N 111-55-W (46.41667 -111.91667); UTM N<blank> E<blank> Z<blank>; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 008N, RNG 003W, Sect 23,26,30,29, Sect_fract <blank>. The only other clue in the record is the reference mentioning Fergus county but not Jefferson county. The PLSS coordinates agree with the lat/long, and show sections 23, 26, 30, and 29, which is consistant with the endpoints of Warm Springs Creek in Jefferson county. However, the record in old_MRDS gives deposit type as FISSURE VEIN, REPLACEMENT. Also host rocks, etc. So it is probably not a placer deposit. EST. PROD. FROM 1918-1925 WAS $42,540 IN AU. Geonames finds no mention of Warm Springs location names in Fergus county. However, MRDS contains 6 records with district name Warm Springs in Fergus county. Lat/long was changed to the center of these records, 47.144 -109.224. PLSS coords were cleared.
