  • ABOUT 500 LONG TONS OF ORE SHIPPED FROM HAWKINS AND ADJOINING FOURTH OF JULY CLAIMS IN 1944. ORE SAID TO AVERAGE 38 TO 40 PERCENT CR2O3 AND HAD A CHROMIUIM-IRON RATIO OF 2.2. THREE MEN EMPLOYED IN AUGUST 1945 SHORTLY AFTER WHICH MINE CLOSED AND HAS REMAINED IDLE.
