Comments on the geologic information

  • ORE IS IN FLAT LYING VEIN, APPROX 1 FOOT THICK, SOME PLACES UP TO 2 FEET. MAIN SULFIDE ORE IS GALENA, IN BLEBS AND VEINLETS, ALSO SOME PYRITE OXIDIZED TO LIMONITE, IN A MILKY WHITE QUARTZ GANGUE. VEIN IS IN OFFSET SEGMENTS, AND OCCURS AT THE BASE OF A 3 FT. LIMESTONE LARGELY REPLACED BY MANGANESE AND IRON OXIDE ORE.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit WORKINGS FOLLOW FISSURE-FILLING QUARTZ VEIN PARALLEL TO BEDDING PLANE BETWEEN SHALE AND LIMESTONE. ORE CONSISTS OF CRYSTALLINE PODS, BLEBS, AND STRINGERS OF ARGENTIFEROUS GALENA AND SPHALERITE ALONG WITH SECONDARY ANGLESITE ?, CERUSSITE AND MALACHITE IN QUARTZ VEIN STAINED WITH HEMATITE AND MN OXIDE. SULFIDES OCCUR BOTH FRESH AND OXIDIZED. QUARTZ VEIN HAS BEEN SHEARED AND CRUSHED BY LATER MOVEMENT. VEIN CHANGES DIP ABRUPTLY TO THE SOUTH, STEEPENING TO 60-70S.
