Comments on the workings information

  • OPEN CUT PARTIALLY FILLED WITH SLUMPED MATERIAL, FROM WHICH HEADINGS WERE DRIVEN ALONG BEDDED ORE. ACCESS IS VIA A SHORT CROSSCUT ADIT OPENING TO A MAZE OF UNDERGROUND GOPHER HOLES AND A 160-FT DEEP DRY INCLCLINED SHAFT. THE LOWEST LEVEL, AT ABOUT 120 FT BELOW COLLAR OF SHAFT IS A SHORT CROSSCUT AND DRIFT PERHAPS 30 FT COMBINED. ORE WAS APPARENTLY HANDLED SEVERAL TIMES AND BUCKET-HOISTED ON A TIMBER SLIDE. MOST WORKINGS GLORY-HOLED TO SURFACE (1984). NEW ROADS IN 1984, AND IT APPEARED THAT THERE WERE PLANS FOR MORE ACTIVITY, INCLUDING DRILLING (?)

Comments on development

  • PROPERTY ACQUIRED IN 1943 BY RARE METAL, INC (RARE METALS CORP. OF SONORA, CA). 1975-76 ASSESSMENT WORK WAS FILED BY WOLFRAM CO. THE LINK BETWEEN THE TWO APPEARS TO BE JOHN HEIZER, P. O. BOX 36, RENO, NV, WHO FILED THE ALPINE CLAIM IN 1972 AND WHO IS REPORTED TO BE A PART OWNER OF THE WOLFRAM CO. AND POSSIBLY OF RARE METALS CORP. AN ACCESS ROAD WAS BUILT TO THE PROPERTY IN 1943 WITH GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE. OPERATED BY RARE METALS CORP 1943-46 WITH THE ORE GOING TO THE TOULON MILL.

Deposit SCHEELITE MINERALIZATION OCCURS ONLY IN THE TACTITE, WHICH WAS DEVELOPED AT THE IGNEOUS CONTACT AND ALONG CERTAIN FAVORABLE BEDS WHICH WERE METASOMATIZED FOR AN UNKNOWN DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE IGNEOUS CONTACT 200 FT. SCHEELITE MINERALIZATION IS BEST IN THE HIGH QUARTZ-GARNET TACITE AND OCCURS AS FINELY DISSEMINATED GRAINS FROM B-B SIZE TO OCCASIONAAL ONE-INCH CRYSTALS.
