Deposit Discovery Year: EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY
Deposit THE N.W. WALL OF THE FAULT IS HORIZONTAL, MEDIUM GRAINED QUARTZITE. THE S.E. WALL IS NOT EXPOSED IN THE OLD WORKINGS. THE SURFACE IS LIGHT COLORED SOIL-MOSTLY SAND AND TAN CLAY. WHERE THE FAULT CROSSES THE MIROROS-IBIPEBA ROAD, THE S.E. SIDE CONSISTS OF BRIGHT RED SOIL CHARACTERISTIC OF WEATHERED GABBRO. THE GABBRO, QUARTZ VEIN, GOLD EXISTS IN OTHER PARTS OF BAHIA (IPUPIARA) AS WELL AS HERE. IT SEEMS THAT DETAILED MAPPING OF ALL GABBRO BODIES, ALL MAJOR QUARTZ VEINS AND ALL MAJOR FAULTS MIGHT REVEAL LOCALITIES WHERE THE RELATION AMONG THESE FACTORS IS PRESENT FOR THE DEPOSITION OF GOLD IN THIS AREA. THE NEXT STEPS WOULD BE SAMPLING, AND DRILLING. RESIDUAL GOLD EXISTS IN FROM ONE TO 1.5 METERS OF GRAVEL UNDERLYING ABOUT 3 METERS OF CANGA CONGLOMERATE WHICH IN TURN IS COVERED BY LATERITE. THE CANGA IS A FRACTURE FILL AND CONSISTS OF SUBROUNDED TO SUB-ANGULAR TO ANGULAR FRAGMENTS AND BOULDERS OF SANDSTONE, QUARTZITE AND QUARTZ AS MUCH AS 50 CM IN DIAMETER. THE QUARTZ IS GENERALLY
Deposit WHITE, LOCALLY VUGGY AND IN PLACES RICH IN IRON. THE QUARTZ VIENS CUTTING THE ADJOINING COUNTRY ROCKS MAY BE THE SOURCE OF GOLD IN THE GRAVELS UNDERLYING THE CANGA. RECORD W002371 BY THOMAS M. WARFLE HAS BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THIS RECORD.
