Comments on the location information

  • Political location in record is Gallatin county. However, original the lat/long plots 3.5 km inside adjacent Park county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 45-4-28N 111-0-1W (45.0744 -111.0003); UTM N4991003 E499978 Z12N; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 009 S, RNG 004 E, Sect 01, Sect_fract SESE. The PLSS coordinates have the same latitude, but 111 degrees 10 minutes, 15 seconds W. This agrees with the county name, Gallatin. So it is likely the longitude minutes and seconds were accidently dropped. The longitude was changed to agree with the PLSS coordinates.
