Comments on the geologic information

  • THIS DEPOSIT IS NOT STRICKLY A SEDIMENTARY DEPOSIT. SULFUR IS FORMED THROUGH THE DECOMPOSITION OF ANHYDRITE BY SULFATE-REDUCING ANAEROBIC BACTERIA. THE DEPOSIT IS OVAL IN SHAPE. THE "AVERAGE" DEPTH TO "ORE" IS 150 TO 200 (175) METERS. THE RANGE IN THE DEPTH TO "ORE" IS FROM 50 TO 300 METERS THICKNESS OF THE "ORE" RANGES FROM 20 TO 30 METERS.
  • SEE MINERAL COMMENTS FOR THE "ROCK" NAMES THAT COMPRISE THIS DEPOSIT, THEY ARE LISTED IN ORDER BEGINNING AT THE TOP OF THE STRUCTURE. ELEMENTAL SULFUR OCCURS IN CAVITIES WITHIN A LAYER OF DECOMPOSED/DECOMPOSING ANHYDRITE, BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT LAYERS OF BARREN OR UNDECOMPOSED ANHYDRITE. THE TOP LAYER OR "CAP ROCK" IS ANHYDRITE. THE BOTTOM LAYER IS HALITE (SALT).

Comments on the production information

  • PRODUCT "CAPACITY" FIELD IS THE SAME DATA AS THE K-DATA SET CONCENTRATOR "DESIGN CAPACITY" FIELD. THE "OUTPUT FIELD IS THE 1983 ETD ESTIMATE FOR THE 1984-85 SULFUR AVAILABILITY STUDY. DATA IN "UNIT PRODUCTION COST" FIELD ($53.98), IS THE TOTAL COST OF ELEMENTAL SULFUR PRODUCTION THE MINE PRODUCTION COST IS $46.21/MT ELEMENTAL SULFUR, U-DATA SET, AND THE FILTRATION-TREATMENT PLANT, K-DATA SET, COST IS $7.77/MT ELEMENTAL SULFUR. ALL COSTS ARE IN JAN 1982 U.S. DOLLARS.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • OPERATION WAS REPORTED AS SHUT DOWN FOR TECHNICAL PROBLEMS AND RESOURCE DEPLETION. IN AUGUST 1992.
  • THESE ARE THE JANUARY 1982 INSITU RESOURCE/RESERVE ESTIMATES AT THE DEMONSTRATED-75% AND INFERRED-50% LEVELS. THEY ARE BASED ON INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THE CONTRACTOR. SULFUR RECOVERY BY THE FRASCH PROCESS IS CONSIDERED TO BE 75% OF THE ESTIMATED INSITU RESOURCE. THEIR IS NO "ORE" DILUTION, SOME OF THE LIQUID SULFUR THAT IS PRODUCED CONTAINS BETWEEN O.25 TO 0.30% HYDROCARBONS AND IS FILTERED AND TREATED AT THE FILTER PLANT.
  • RESERVES DEPLETED AUG. 1992.
  • THERE IS NO PUBLISHED DATA FOR THE RESERVE/RESOURCES OF THIS FRASCH OPERATION. RESERVES WERE REPORTED DEPLETED IN AUG. 1992.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THERE IS NO ACTUAL CONCENTRATOR OR MILL AT THIS FRASCH OPERATION. WHAT COULD BE CALL A "MILL" IS THE FILTRATION /TREATMENT PLANT, WHERE THE LIQUID SULFUR IS FILTERED AND TREATED PRIOR TO TRANSPORT TO MARKET. THE "DESIGN CAPACITY" FIELD IS AN ESTIMATE BASED ON THE DESIGN SULFUR PRODUCTION CAPACITY FROM THE PRODUCING FRASCH WELLS. "RECOVERY" OF THIS PLANT IS 98 TO 99%. DATA IN "UNIT PRODUCTION COST" AND "INVESTMENT ($1000) FIELDS ARE FOR THE FILTRATION AND TREATMENT PLANT ONLY. COSTS ARE IN JAN 1982 U.S. DOLLARS.
