Comments on the production information

  • ALUMINA CAPACITY IS ESTIMATED AT 100,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION APPROXIMATED 96,000 METRIC TONS IN 1989. ABOUT 70,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR OF BAUXITE FEED COMES FROM THE JAJCE MINE, 70,000 METRIC TONS OF BAUXITE COMES FROM THE ROVINJ MINE, AND UP TO 120,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR COMES FROM AUSTRALIA AND GUINEA. THE PLANT WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1954. THE ALUMINA QUALITY IS STATED AS A FLOURY.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE PLANT REQUIRES POWER FROM SLOVENIA, ABOUT 65 PERCENT, AND 35 PERCENT FROM SERBIA. FIFTY PERCENT OF POWER IS COAL GENERATED, AND HYDROTHERMAL AND NUCLEAR POWER SOURCES GENERATE THE OTHER 50 PERCENT. THE PLANT USES THE BAYER PROCESS DEVELOPED BY PECHINEY. C.R.U STATED THAT THE PLANT WAS TO CONVERT TO THE PRODUCTION OF SPECIAL ALUMINA GRADES. IT IS UNKNOWN WHETHER THIS CONVERSION ACTUALLY OCCURED.
