  • HEMATITE-GOETHITE ORE IS DEVELOPED IN EACH OF THE IRON FORMATIONS BY THE ENRICHMENT OF THE JASPILITE BY CIRCULATING GROUND-WATER. THIS IS APPARENTLY ACCOMPLISHED BY SOLUTION AND REMOVAL OF SILICA AND CARBONATES, THE OXIDATION OF MAGNETITE TO HEMATITE (AS MARTITE) AND DEPOSITION OF ADDITIONAL IRON AS GOETHITE.
