Comments on other economic factors

  • THE MONTROC MILL HAS AN 85,000 TPA ACIDSPAR CAPACITY.
  • MONTROC PROCESSES ABOUT 7,600 MT/YR OF LE BURC ORE, PRODUCING 5,500 MT/YR OF ACID GRADE CONCENTRATE.
  • PRORATED MILL OPCOST WAS USED IN CALCULATING THE MILL WORKING CAPITAL.
  • ACID GRADE FLUORSPAR IS SHIPPED TO PECHINEY CHEMICAL PLANT AT ALES. IF THE PRODUCT WERE TO BE EXPORTED, IT WOULD PROBABLY BE SHIPPED FROM THE PORT OF BORDEAUX, WHICH IS LOCATED SOME 260 KM FROM THE MILL. THE CERAMIC GRADE MATERIAL IS SOLD TO VARIOUS FRENCH CONSUMERS.
  • THE AVERAGE DIMENSIONS OF THE OPEN PIT AREA IN 1982 WERE 120 M IN LENGTH, 100 M IN WIDTH, AND 15 M IN DEPTH. DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF A HIGH HILL NEXT TO THE OPEN CUT, APPROXIMATELY 2,000,000 TONS OF WASTE MUST BE REMOVED PER YEAR. SOME OF THE WASTE ROCK IS HAULED TO THE LE BURC MINE FOR USE AS STOPE BACKFILL. MINE RECOVERY IS 90%.
