ALCOA WILL SUPPLY 500,000 TPY ALUMINA AND GET 125,000 TPY AL. AN ADDITIONAL AGREEMENT IS REPORTED WITH ALUSUISSE-LONZA TO SUPPLY 300,000 TPY ALUMINA IN RETURN FOR 60,000 TPY AL.
  • POWER CONSUMPTION ESTIMATED TO BE 14 MW/T, OR ABOUT $202/MT AT A LME PRICE OF $1300/MT. POWER AND TRANSPORTATION COSTS EXPECTED TO BE 44.5% OF AL SELLING PRICE. ALUSAF TO PAY 20 MILLS/KWH FOR POWER. IN 1993, IT WAS REPORTED THAT CONSTRUCTION WAS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND UNDER BUDGET. AS A RESULT, FINANCE SAVINGS TO LEAVE PLANT WITH A BREAKEVEN COST OF $800/T AT AN AL PRICE OF $1050/T
