  • IN 1989, DURING THE STUDY OF THE MINING INDUSTRY BY COMMODITIES RESEARCH UNIT LIMITED, THEY DID NOT PREPARE ANY INFORMATION FOR THE RESITA OPERATIONS. THEREFORE, INFORMATION FOR THE MINE IS VERY LIMITED AND NOT VERY WELL DETAILED. PRODUCTION RATES WERE ESTIMATED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 300,000 METRIC TONS OF ORE THROUGHPUT FOR THE MINE. (1991) PRIOR TO 1989, ALL IRON ORE PRODUCTION WAS SHIPPED FOR USE IN DOMESTIC IRON AND STEEL WORKS. SINCE 1989, THE MINISTRY OF MINING OFFICIALS HAVE ALLOWED SOME EXPORTING OF IRON PRODUCTS IN THE FORM OF FERROSILICON AND FERROMANGANESE.
