  • NEAR SCOTT RIVER, BUT DIFFERENT FROM CSP DEPOSIT OF THAT NAME. MDL (NOW OWNED BY BHP) DOING MUCH OF THE EXPL. SITE VISITED 6/90, AS WELL AS HEADQUARTERS VISIT IN PERTH. THIS SEQ. # USE TO BE FOR SCOTT RIVER DEPOSIT, NOW THAT O ONE IS INCLUDED WITH CSP OPERATIONS (6020550042).

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE PROJECT IS PLANNED TO PRODUCE 600,000 TPA OF ILMENITE AND 20,000 TPA OF ZIRCON. THE OPERATION WILL BE SIMILAR TO STOCKTON AND HAWKS NEST, CONSISTING OF A DREDGE, FLOATING CONCENTRATION PLANT AND DRY MILLS.
  • BHP EXPECTS TO INVEST MORE THAN A$200 MILLION IN THE DREDGING AND SEPARATION PROJECT.
  • MDL WILL BEGIN TRIAL MINING IN MID 1993. THE COMPANY IS LOOKING TO START PRODUCTION IN 1995, DEPENDING ON MARKET CONDITIONS. MOST OF THE PERMITS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED AS OF 12/92, THEY ARE HAVING SOME DISCUSSIONS ON POWER PLACEMENT. AN ENTIRE INFRASTRUCTURE MUST BE COMPLETED FIRST. COMMISSIONING OF THE PLANT IS NOT DUE UNTIL SEPT. 1996. THE FIRST SHIPMENTS ARE EXPECTED IN 1997.
