Deposit 20 KM LONG ZONE OF NI/CU MINERALIZATION DISCOVERED BY UNDP SURVEY TEAM BETWEEN TOWNS OF RUTANA AND BULKIRASIZI. CO-ORDINATES ARE OF TOWN OF MUSONGATI, 25 KM NNE OF RUTANA. UOP INC. OF U.S. CONTRACTED BY U.N. TO DO LAB SCALE TESTS ON ORE TO DETERMINE SUITABLE PROCESS(1977). IN 1979: SAID THAT STUDIES INDICATE POSSIBILITY TO PRODUCE 30,000 MTPY NI; 8,500 MTPY CU AND 2,500 MTPY CO. ALSO THAT EXPLOITATION COULD TAKE PLACE BY 1983.
