  • THE BAUXITE DEPOSITS FORMED ON DIABASE SILLS AND DIKES OF MESOZOIC AGE. THESE ROCKS OVERLIE AND INTRUDE PALEOZOIC AND PROTEROZOIC ROCKS. THE AREA WAS UPLIFTED AND ERODED DURING THE EARLY CENOZOIC. BAUXITIZATION PROBABLY OCCURRED DURING THE MIOCENE.
  • INDIVIDUAL BAUXITE DEPOSITS AT TONGUE RANGE FROM 8 SQ.KM TO 24 SQ.KM IN AREAL EXTENT.
