Deposit THE MINE PROBABLY PRODUCES SOME BATTERY GRADE CONCENTRATE FOR DOMESTIC USE. THE CARBONATE ORE ALSO MAY BE PRODUCED ON A SMALL SCALE; HOWEVER, THERE ARE NO DATA REGARDING PRODUCTION SINCE 1975. CLOSURE OF BENGUELA RR STOPPED SHIPMENT OF CONCENTRAT- ES FROM 1975 TO 1980. MINING AND STOCKPILING CONTINUED ON A REDUCED SCALE. THE RAILWAY MAY BE OPEN INTERMITTENTLY DEPENDING ON THE LOCAL POLITICAL SITUATION. RECENT DATA ON THE STATUS OF THE OPERATION IS LACKING.
