Comments on the production information

  • THE DATE OF CONSTRUCTION FOR THE TWO PLANTS WERE 1952 FOR THE ISTEBNE PLANT AND 1965 FOR THE SIROKA PLANT. THE CONFIGURATION AND TECHNOLOGY OF THE PLANT IS AS FOLLOWS: ELECTRIC FURNACE DETAILS: MANUFACTURER FURNACE CAPACITY MAIN PRODUCTS SIROKA PLANT: MANNESMAN-DEMAG 1 X 34 MVA FE-MN, SI-MN. MANNESMAN-DEMAG 1 X 24 MVA FE-MN. RUSSIAN/SLOVAK 1 X 4.5 MVA FE-MN. RUSSIAN 4 X 6.5 MVA FE-MN, SI-MN. ISTEBNE NO. 1: RUSSIAN 6 X 9 MVA FE-SI, SI-CA, FE-SI-CR, AND H-C-FE-CR. ISTEBNE NO. 2: SLOVAK DESIGN 6 X 7.5 MVA H-C, M-C, AND (SWISS COMPONENTS) L-C-FE-CR. ISTEBNE NO. 3: SLOVAK/SWISS 2 X 3 MVA FE-W AND FE-TI-H-SI. SLOVAK CRUCIBLES FE-MO, FE-TI. IN 1990, A GAS COLLECTION AND DRY SCRUBBING SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED AT THE NO. 2 AND NO. 3 PLANTS AT ISTEBNE, WHICH SHOULD EXTRACT OVER 99 PERCENT OF THE DUST FROM THE FURNACE GASES. THE ISTEBNE NO. 1 PLANT AND THE SIROKA PLANT HAVE NO POLLUTION CONTROLS. THE ENERGY SOURCES FOR THE TWO PLANTS IS DERIVED FROM COAL-FIRED POWER SUPPLIED FROM THE GRID.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • AS FOR EXPANSION POTENTIAL, EXPANSION WOULD REQUIRE THE BUILDING OF NEW FURNACES. THERE ARE NO CURRENT PLANS TO DO ANY SUCH EXPANSION THUS SO FAR. AS FOR MARKETING ARRANGEMENTS, ALL FERROALLOYS ARE EXPORTED BY KERAMETAL IN BRATISLAVA, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS EXCLUSIVITY, BUT CHANGES TO THIS POLICY ARE EXPECTED.
