Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE TWO KARELIAN DEPOSITS, THE KOSTOMUKSHSKOE AND THE KORPANSKOE DEPOSITS, HAVE OVERALL RESERVES OF 1,435 MILLION METRIC TONS, WITH FORECASTED RESERVES OF 2,606 MILLION METRIC TONS AND 693 MILLION METRIC TONS AT THE KOSTOMUKSHSKOE AND THE KORPANSKOE DEPOSITS RESPECTIVELY. THESE TWO KARELIAN DEPOSITS HAVE AN AVERAGE IRON CONTENT OF 32.2 PERCENT. KARELIA PRODUCED 1.6 PERCENT OF IRON ORE IN THE FORMER SOVIET UNION OR 2.6 PERCENT IN RUSSIA. BOTH DEPOSITS ARE DEVELOPED BY THE KOSTOMUKSHSKOE PLANT, WHICH PRODUCES AN AVERAGE 24 MILLION METRIC TONS OF ORE PER YEAR.
