Comments on the production information

  • PRODUCTION TONNAGES ARE ESTIMATED. THE 1981 TONNAGE INCLUDES 280,948 MT OF ORE THAT WERE STOCKPILED. IT IS PROPOSED THAT THIS STOCKPILED MATERIAL WILL BE MILLED IN 1984.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • M1C1=M9C4. RESOURCES CALCULATED FROM 12/83 TONNAGE SUPPLIED BY COMPANY PLUS ESTIMATED 1982-83 PRODUCTION.
  • RECURSOS MINERAIS DO BRASIL, 1983. RESERVE TONNAGES IS UPDATED BY SUBTRACTING PROPOSED PRODUCTION TONNAGES UP TO DEC 1988.

Comments on other economic factors

  • REC. 1 - 168,537 MT ORE MILLED IN 1982 (34% OF CAPACITY). REC. 2 - 168,537 MT ORE MILLED IN 1983 (34% OF CAPACITY). MILL OP. COST DECREASES BECAUSE OF DECREASE IN LABOR COUPLED WITH INCREASE IN WORKER PRODUCTIVITY. REC. 3 - 449,485 MT ORE MILLED IN 1984 (90% OF CAPACITY). THIS TONNAGE INCLUDES 280,948 MT FROM STOCKPILE. THE MILL OP. COST FOR THIS YEAR (1984) IS ASSUMED TO BE THE SAME AS THE CALCULATED VALUE FOR 1985 BECAUSE THE 1984 PRODUCTION RATE IS VERY CLOSE TO FULL CAPACITY. REC. 4 - MILL ACHIEVES FULL CAPACITY OPERATION (500,000 MTPY). MILL OP. COST FOR 1984 AND 1985 DECREASES PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF ECONOMY OF SCALE, BUT ALSO REFLECTS INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY.
  • REC. 1 - MINE & MILL AT 34% OF CAPACITY. 168,537 MTPY ORE MINED AND MILLED. REC. 2 - MINE AND MILL OP. COSTS DECREASE BECAUSE LABOR FORCE DECRREASED AND WORKER PRODUCTIVITY INCREASED. REC. 3 - MINE STILL AT 34% OF CAPACITY (168,537 MTPY ORE). MILL AT 90% OF CAPACITY (449,485 MTPY FEED). THE EXTRA MILL FEED IS ORE THAT WAS MINED AND STOCKPILED IN 1981. THE MINE OP. COST IN 1984 REFLECTS THE COST OF RECLAIMING THE STOCKPILED ORE. REC. 4 - MINING AND MILLING BOTH ACHIEVE FULL CAPACITY IN 1985 (500,000 MTPY ORE).
  • REC. 1 - 168,537 MT ORE MINED IN 1982 (34% OF CAPACITY). REC. 2 - 168,537 MT ORE MINED IN 1983 (34% OF CAPACITY). MINE OP. COST DECREASES BECAUSE OF DECREASE IN LABOR COUPLED WITH INCREASE IN WORKER PRODUCTIVITY. REC. 3 - 168,537 MT ORE MINED IN 1984. 280,948 MT OF ORE RECLAIMED FROM ORE STOCKPILE. MINE OP. COST SHOWS DECREASE FOR SAME REASON AS IN 1982 AND ALSO DECREASES BECAUSE IT REFLECTS BOTH THE COST OF ACTUAL MINING DONE IN 1984 AND THE COST OF RECLAIMING THE STOCKPILED ORE. CAPACITY REFLECTS BOTH MINED AND STOCKPILED ORE. REC. 4 - MINE ACHIEVES FULL CAPACITY (500,000 MTPY) IN 1985. MINE OP. COST NO LONGER REFLECTS COST OF RECLAIMING STOCKPILED ORE. OP. COST CONTINUES TO REFLECT DECREASE IN LABOR AND INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY. VERY LITTLE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT THE MINING OPERATION IS AVAILABLE. THE ORE IS RIPPED BY TRACTORS, BUT ORE GATHERING IS MANUAL AND SELECTIVE. ASSUME 260 DPY OF OPERATION.
