Comments on the production information

  • THE MINE WILL BE DEVELOPED TO A DEPTH OF 1,000 METERS AND PRODUCTION WILL BE INCREASED TO REACH APPROXIMATELY 2 MILLION TONE PER YEAR BY 1995.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE ESTIMATED ORE GRADES MINED FROM THE ORLOV MINE ARE AS FOLLOWS: FOR 1988, 2.8 PERCENT COPPER, 2.5 PERCENT ZINC, AND 0.7 PERCENT LEAD; FOR 1989, 2.8 PERCENT COPPER, 2.5 PERCENT ZINC, AND 0.7 PERCENT LEAD; FOR 1990, 3.4 PERCENT COPPER, 2.1 PERCENT ZINC, AND 0.7 PERCENT LEAD; AND PROJECTED FOR THE YEAR 1995, 2.4 PERCENT COPPER, 2.5 PERCENT ZINC, AND 0.9 PERCENT LEAD.
  • ORE RESERVES ARE ESTIMATED TO BE SUFFICIENT FOR 29 YEARS, WHICH IF MULTIPLIED BY THE ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF ORE FOR THE YEAR 1991 GIVES 34,249,000 METRIC TONS OF ORE RESERVES REMAINING TO BE MINED.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE DEPOSIT IS MINED BY UNDERGROUND METHODS AND IS ACCESSED BY FOUR MAIN SHAFTS. ONE OF THE SHAFTS IS IN THE NORTHERN SECTION, TWO ARE IN THE CENTER, AND THE FOURTH ONE IS IN THE SOUTH OF THE DEPOSIT. EACH SHAFT IS 700 METERS DEEP. THE ORE IS EXTRACTED BY CUT AND FILL STOPING AND BY ROOM AND PILLAR MINING. SUBLEVELS ARE DEVELOPED AT INTERVALS OF 14 TO 17 METERS. FOR ROOM AND PILLAR MINING, THE PANEL WIDTH IS 10 METERS. THE BACKFILL MIXTURE DOES NOT INCLUDE CONCENTRATOR TAILINGS.
