Comments on the geologic information

  • THE GEOLOGY OF THE MINING DEPOSIT IS MADE UP OF HYDROTHERMAL SUBVOLCANIC VEINS DISTRIBUTED WITHIN A LARGE AND COMPLEX MINERALIZED AREA. THE VEINS ARE UP TO THREE KILOMETERS IN LENGTH AND .5 TO 5 METERS THICK. THEIR VERTICAL EXTENT IS ABOUT 600 METERS. THE MAIN ORE MINERALS ARE PYRITE, GALENA, SPHALERITE, CHALCOPYRITE, QUARTZ, AND CARBONATES.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE PRODUCTS OF THE BANSKA STIAVNICA MINE ARE LEAD AND ZINC CONCENTRATES. HEAD GRADES OF THE LEAD AND ZINC ORES ARE .90 PERCENT LEAD, 1.3 PERCENT ZINC, AND .12 PERCENT COPPER, FOR THE YEAR 1989. CONCENTRATE PRODUCTION FOR THE YEAR 1989 CONSISTS OF 4,266 METRIC TONS OF ZINC CONCENTRATES AND 2,836 METRIC TONS OF LEAD CONCENTRATES. THE GRADES FOR THESE TWO CONCENTRATES ARE AS FOLLOWS: THE LEAD CONCENTRATE CONTAINS 52.4 PERCENT LEAD, 456 GRAMS PER TON OF SILVER, 23.2 GRAMS PER TON OF GOLD, AND 4.4 PERCENT COPPER. THE ZINC CONCENTRATE CONTAINS 48.3 PERCENT ZINC, 128 GRAMS PER TON OF SILVER, AND .37 PERCENT CADMIUM. MINING JOURNAL REPORTS THAT THE TOTAL PRODUCTION OF LEAD AND ZINC FOR THE COUNTRY OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA FOR THE YEAR OF 1991 WAS 780,000 METRIC TONS.
