  • THE PRODUCTION HISTORY FOR THIS MINE IS AN UNKNOWN PERCENTAGE OF THE TOTAL UNDERGROUND PRODUCTION FOR THE BAKONY BAUXITE MINES, WHICH IS EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE TOTAL BAUXITE PRODUCT PRODUCTION. THE AMOUNTS OF PRODUCTION FOR THIS MINE, WHICH ARE SHOWN IN THE PRODUCTION SECTION OF THIS REPORT, ARE NOT TOTALLY ACCURATE, BECAUSE TOWARDS THE LATE EIGHTIES THE PRODUCTION VALUES SHOWN DIMINISH TO A VALUE LESS THAN ZERO, AND THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE. THEREFORE, THE PRODUCTION RATES FOR THE OTHER BAKONY BAUXITE MINES, INCLUDING THE NYIRAD, HALIMBA III, IHARKUT, FENYOFO I, AND BAKINYOSZLOP MINES MUST HAVE BEEN REPORTED AT A GREATER PRODUCTION RATE THAN THE PRODUCTION RATE TRULY REALIZED. THE MAIN BAUXITE MINERAL IS BOEHMITE, AND THE RATIO OF AL2O3 TO SIO2 IN THE GEOLOGICAL RESOURCE IS 6 TO 1. THE SILICATE CONTENT, SIO2, FOR EACH PRODUCTION YEAR UNDER THE PRODUCTION HISTORY SECTION OF THE ADIT/MAS INFORMATION FORM IS AS FOLLOWS: FOR 1984, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.25%; FOR 1985, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.31%; FOR 1986, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.57%; FOR 1987, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.61%; FOR 1988, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.51%; FOR 1989, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.08%; AND FOR 1990, THE SIO2 CONTENT IS 7.49%. ALL OF THE SILICATE CONTENT PERCENTAGES FOR THE YEARS 1984 THROUGH 1989 ARE ESTIMATED, AND THE SILICATE CONTENT PERCENTAGE FOR THE YEAR OF 1990 IS A PROJECTED VALUE.   • THE BAUXITE ORE IS TRANSPORTED TO THE SURFACE BY A CONVEYOR SYSTEM UP AN INCLINE. AN UNDERHAND STOPING METHOD IS APPLIED TO THE THICKER PORTIONS OF THE STRATIFORM OREBODY. THE EXPORTS OF THE BAUXITE ORE TO CZECHOSLOVAKIA, EAST GERMANY, AND POLAND HAVE DECLINED FROM 542,000 TONS IN 1980 TO 379,000 TONS IN 1988. THE REMAINDER OF THE BAUXITE ORE IS SHIPPED TO THE AJKA, ALMASFUZITO, AND THE MASONMAGYAROVAR CHEMICAL GRADE, ALUMINA PLANTS OF HUNGALU. Deposit THE STRATIFORM OREBODY OF THE BITO II MINE RANGES FROM FIVE TO FIFTEEN METERS IN THICKNESS. THE ORE FROM THE UNDERGROUND BITO II MINE IS TRANSPORTED TO THE SURFACE BY A CONVEYOR SYSTEM UP AN INCLINE OF AN UNKNOWN SLOPE. THE UNDERHAND STOPING METHOD OF MINING IS APPLIED TO THE THICKER PORTIONS OF THE STRATIFORM OREBODY. NOTE, THAT THE GEOLOGIC AGE UNDER THE LITHOLOGY SECTION OF THE ADIT/MAS FORM FOR THIS MINE IS OF THE MESOZOIC ERA, WHERE IN FACT, THE GEOLOGIC AGE MORE ACCURATELY RANGES FROM THE UPPER TRIASSIC TO THE MIDDLE OF THE EOCENE EPOCH OF THE TERTIARY PERIOD. FURTHERMORE, THE BAUXITE ORE IS ENCLOSED IN SEDIMENTARY ROCK WHICH GRADES FROM A UPPER TRIASSIC DOLOMITE UP TO A MIDDLE EOCENE LIMESTONE, THUS IS THE REASON WHY THE ROCK NAME IS LISTED AS A DOLOMITIC-LIMESTONE FOR SIMPLICITY. MOST RESERVES IN THE UNDERGROUND MINES ARE BELOW THE KARST WATER LEVEL WHICH CREATES A CONSTANT HAZARD OF FLOODING, HOWEVER PUMP STATIONS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY USED TO SOLVE THE FLOODING PROBLEMS IN THE NYIRAD MINES. MOBILE MINING EQUIPMENT INCLUDES ATLAS COPCO CAVO 310 LOADERS, GHH LHD MACHINES, AND ATLAS COPCO CAVO DRILLING RIGS IN THE UNDERGROUND MINES. THERE IS NO CRUSHING OR CONCENTRATING PLANT FOR THE BITO II MINE, NOR FOR ANY OF THE BAKONY BAUXITE MINES, INCLUDING THE NYIRAD, HALIMBA III, IHARKUT, FENYOFO I, AND THE BAKINYOSZLOP MINES. THE TOTAL LABOR FORCE FOR ALL OF THESE JUST NAMED MINES WAS PROJECTED TO BE AT 3,200 PERSONNEL IN 1990. NOTE FURTHER, THAT THE STRIKE AND DIP INFORMATION FOR THIS MINE, AMONG THE OTHER MINES MENTIONED IN THE FOREGOING PARAGRAPH, IS ONLY PARTIALLY GIVEN. IT IS HARD TO DISCERN WHETHER THE NUMERICAL VALUE GIVEN, 10 N, IS THE STRIKE OR THE DIP OF THE BEDS. ON GEOLOGIC MAPS, THE NUMERICAL DATA GIVEN WITH THE STRIKE AND DIP SYMBOL IS USUALLY, IF NOT ALWAYS, THE DIP OF THE BEDS. THEREFORE, THE "10 N" MAY MEAN THE BEDS DIP TEN DEGREES NORTH AND STRIKE ZERO DEGREES FROM DUE NORTH. ATTENTION MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE FACT THAT EVEN THOUGH EXTENSIVE PUMPING HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN LOWERING THE WATER TABLE BELOW THE BAUXITE ORE OF THE NYIRAD MINES WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY SUPPLYING THE SURROUNDING DOMESTIC, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND INDUSTRIAL NEEDS, THIS PUMPING OF THE GROUNDWATER OVER THE YEARS HAS UPSET THE NATURAL EQUILIBRIUM OF THE WATER TABLE. IN AN EFFORT TO PRESERVE THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT, THE RATE OF WATER PUMPING HAS BEEN REDUCED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE NYIRAD BAUXITE MINES HAVE BEEN REFLOODED. THIS IS THE REASON WHY THE NYIRAD MINES WERE EXPECTED TO CEASE PRODUCTION IN 1990. THE CLOSURE OF THE NYIRAD BAUXITE MINES IS ESTIMATED TO RESULT IN THE LOSS OF TWO MILLION TONS OF HIGH QUALITY BAUXITE.
