Comments on the production information

  • TOTAL CAPACITY FOR THE SURFACE OPERATIONS DESCRIBED UNDER THIS SEQUENCE NO. IS 2,200,000 MT/YR. (YR. OF INFO.-1991).
  • TOTAL PRODUCTION FROM THE FIVE OPEN PITS FROM 1940 TO 1991 WAS REPORTED TO BE 125 MMT. THE DONSKOY MINING COMPLEX HAS VIRTUALLY STOPPED DELIVERING CHROME ORE TO RUSSIAN FERRO-CHROME PRODUCERS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO MEET PAYMENT. COLLECTIVE DEBTS OWED BY THE ALLOY PRODUCERS NOW TOTAL 8 TO 9 BILLION RUBLES. RUSSIAN FERRO-CHROME PLANTS SUCH AS KLYUCHEVSKY AND CHELYABINSK DO NOT HAVE THE RUBLES TO PAY DONSKOY.

Deposit THIS SEQUENCE NO. REPRESENTS SURFACE MINING AT THE DONSKOY COMPLEX. THIS SURFACE MINE CONSISTS OF THREE CURRENT WORKING FACES: 40 YEARS OF KAZAKH SSR, MIRNY, AND OBJEDINYONNY. IN ADDITION, A FOURTH WORKING FACE, DEHSGIZ AGACH, IS BEING DEVELOPED. PRODUCTION IS REPORTED TO BE 1.7 MMT IN 1991 FOR THE 40 YEARS FACE, .5 MMT FOR THE OTHER FACES OF THE OPEN PIT, AND 1.5 MMT FOR UNDERGROUND, FOR A TOTAL PRODUCTION AT THE COMPLEX OF 3.7 MMT IN 1991. PRODUCTION IS REPORTED TO BE INCREASING IN 1993 TO: 2.0 MMT-40 YRS. FACE; .5 MMT-OTHER FACES; 1.5 MMT-UNDERGROUND. TOTAL PRODUCTION WOULD THUS BE 4.0 MMT IN 1993.
