Comments on other economic factors

  • THE DEEPEST PRESENT DEVELOPMENT IS AT AN ELEVATION OF 670 M. AT PRESENT, ABOUT 10% OF THE ORE EXTRACTED COMES FROM BELOW THE 900 LEVEL. ABOUT 25% TO 35% OF THE COPPER ORE COMES FROM THE HANGING WALL SPLIT VIENS. NORMALLY, BETWEEN 90 AND 100 STOPE PREPARATION HEADINGS WITH ADVANCES OF 5000 TO 6000 METERS PER YEAR ARE IN OPERATION. ABOUT 170 STOPES ARE IN PRODUCTION, IN PREPARATION, OR BEING PHASED OUT EACH YEAR. APPROXIMATELY 70 STOPES WILL BE COMPLETELY PRODUCED IN A 12 MONTH PERIOD. TIMBER CONSUMPTION AVERAGES 400,000 BOARD-FEET PER MONTH BLASTING IS WITH DYNAMITE, AND THE POWDER FRACTION IS ABOUT 0.8 POUND PER TONNE.
