General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit IN THIS GENERAL AREA ARE 3 SHORT SHAFTS, UP TO 35 FT DEEP, AND SEVERAL SMALL PITS. THE WORKINGS ARE IN ALTERED LIMESTONE AND MARBLE, WITH FINE DISSEMINATED PYRITE AT PLACES, CLOSE TO A CONTACT WITH VOLCANIC ROCK. UNLIKELY ANY PRODUCTION FROM THE PROSPECTS. SIX SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FROM THESE PROSPECTS; THE HIGHEST GOLD ASSAY WAS 17 PPB; THE HIGHEST SILVER ASSAY WAS 1.8 PPM, AND THE HIGHEST BISMUTH ASSAY WAS 150 PPM; OTHER METALS HAD LOW ASSAY CONCENTRATIONS. IN 1990 NEWMONT MINING CORPORATION PROPOSED TO DRILL FOUR HOLES IN THIS AREA TO AUGMENT A SURFACE MINERAL EXPLORATION PROGRAM FOR A PRECIOUS METAL TARGET. IN 1991 THE COMPANY WITHDREW ITS APPLICATION TTO DRILL EXPLORATORY HOLES BECAUSE OF PUBLIC OPPOSITION TO MINING ACTIVITY IN THIS AREA, AND BECAUSE OF A BILL PUT BEFORE CONGRESS TO WITHDRAW APPROX. 13,000 ACRES IN THE CORONADO NATIONAL FOREST FROM MINING AND MINERAL LEASING LAWS.
