Deposit THIS PIT IS LOCATED NEAR NEW DEVELOPMENT - A CHURCH. THEREFORE THERE MAY BE SOME OPPOSITION TO RENEWED MINING HERE. POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM THERE ARE NO ANALYSES OF CHROMITE OR CR FE RATIO GIVEN FOR TO DEPOSIT IN GENERAL HOWEVER THE PA AND MARYLAND ORES WOULD PROBABLY MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR CHEMICAL GRADE. THE MINE CONSISTS OF THREE SMALL WATER FILLED SHAFTS TRENDING DEG W. TWO SMALL PILES OF LOW GRADE DISSEMINATED ORE REMAIN NE AND OF THE MAIN SHAFT. THE LARGE DUMP FROM THE THREE SHAFTS CONTAIN MUCH SPARSELY DISSEMINATED CHROMITE IN SCHLIEREN BANDS AND I R LENSES IN SERPENTINE. DATE OF COMMENTS 1975.
