Comments on the ownership information

  • IN EARLY 1992, ORIXIMINA WAS MERGED INTO MINERACAO RIO DO NORTE (MRN) IN ORDER TO AVOID A $200 MILLION INVESTMENT BY THE FORMER OWNERS, ALCOA (60%) AND BILLITON (40%), TO RETAIN MINING RIGHTS. IN RETURN, ALCOA ENTERED THE MRN PARTNERSHIP AND BILLITON UPPED ITS SHARE IN THE SAME. MRN DOES NOT RISK LOSING THE MINING RIGHTS BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY MINING THE NEIGHBORING DEPOSIT AT TROMBETAS.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE QUANTITY IS EQUALLY DIVIDED BETWEEN THE ALCOA AND LUDWIG PROPERTIES QUANTITY IS ON A WASHED AND DRIED BASIS
