| Deposit | THE KOKTOKAY MINE EXPLOITS A SPODUMENE PEGMATITE, THAT CONTAINS APPRECIABLE AMOUNTS OF BE, TA, NB, CS AND RB. PRODUCTION IS ESTIMATED TO BE 250 TPD ORE @ 1.5% LIO2. RESERVES ARE ESTIMATED TOBE 500,000 TONS ORE @ 0.7% LIO2. OTHER MINERALS ARE CLEAVELANDITE, QUARTZ, LEPIDOLITE, POLLUCITE, TANTALITE, ZIRCON, GARNET, BI-MINERALS; ORES AVERAGE 1.5% LIO2, 6% BEO, 2% TA + NB OXIDES. ABOUT 10,000 PEGMATITE VEINS ARE KNOWN TO OCCUR IN THE ALTAI MOUNTAINS, WITH ABOUT 10% HAVING BEEN INVESTIGATED. THESE DEPOSITS ARE BELIEVED TO BE RELATED TO VARISCAN GRANITES, WITH AN AGE OF 180 MA. CONCENTRATES ARE TRUCKED TO URUMQI CHEMICAL COMPLEX, TAKING ABOUT 25,000 TONS OF CONCENTRATE TO PRODUCE 1500 TONS OF LIO2 PER YEAR. THE MINE IS LOCATED 205 KM BY ROAD FROM BEITUN. |
