  • NOT SURE OF EXACT LOCATION, ONLY KNOW THAT BETWEEN BRITS AND RUSTENBURG. CO-ORDINATES ARE OF POINT 11 KM WSW OF BRITS. 8 HOLES COMPLETED BY 1973. CO. HOLDS PERMITS AND OPTIONS ON 22,000 ACRES WITH 8 MILES OF STRIKE LENGTH. BELIEVE PLANS ARE TO MINE & PROCESS UG2 LAYER OF MERENSKY REEF- FIRST COMPANY TO DO SO? IN 1976: PROVED RESERVE TO DEPTH OF 98 M WAS 46,000,000 MT, DEMONSTRATED(PROBABLE) RESERVE WAS 227,000,000 MT- NO GRADE AVAILABLE. REPORTED COST OF MINE/MILL SAID TO BE R300,000,000($345,000, 000). IN 1976,BULK SAMPLE OBTAINED FROM DECLINE, PILOT PLANT TESTS SHOW THAT SALEABLE HIGH CARBON FERROCHROME COULD BE PROD- UCED BY EITHER OF TWO COMMERCIAL PROCESSES. VARIOUS METHODS OF PRODUCING PT CONCS BEING INVESTIGATED.
