Deposit RECORDS 800-823 OF 1975 ENTRY. RESERVE DATA BULL 35 - OWNERSHIP, EXPLORATION,ROCK AND DEPOSIT CHARACTERI BULL 940-J - GENERAL INFO FOR ALL RECORDS. REC 040 NOT ENOUGH DATA TO RECORD SUR AREA POTENTIALLY DIST RECORD 050/ PROSPECT PITS WERE EXCAVATED BY THE SOUTHERN MA CORP. AND THE PROPERTY WAS EXAMINED AND SAMPLED BY PIERCE AN BUREAU OF MINES (1943). RECORD 070/ COBALT BEARING MANGANESE ORE CONSISTS OF LITHIOP AND HOLLANDITE. A SAMPLE FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE DEPOSIT WAS CO AND A SAMPLE FROM THE EASTERN PART CONTAINED 0.65% CO (RE 702) RECORD 080/ THE CO-MN ORE OCCURS AS FRACTURE FILLINGS AN REP MENT BODIES IN CHERT AND AS PELLETS IN RESIDUAL CLAY. THE P ARE LESS THAN 1/2 INCH IN DIAMETER AND SEEM TO BE GRADATIONA THE CHERT DEPOSITS WHICH IN PLACES HAVE BEEN EXPOSED IN 20 F PITS. THE DEPOSIT MAY CONTAIN 2.3 METRIC TONS (50,000 LBS) COBALT ( CONFID. WAR. MIN. REPT.) THE DEPOSIT IS ON THE STEEP SE SIDE OF A RIDGE TRENDING ROUG N 45 E. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH DATA TO RECORD ALL DEPOSIT DIMEN THE MCCOLLUM, GEMES, & WARD PROPERTIES IN NW GEORGIA AND THE OAK MINE IN SE TENN. COMBINED ARE ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN 7,000 OF MN OXIDES WITH 0.75% - 1.25% COBALT OR ABOUT 140,000 LBS (REC 702)
